Owning a vehicle opens up the entire map and makes jobs significantly faster. This guide covers everything from getting licensed to managing your garage.

Step 1 - Get Your Driver’s License

You need a valid driver’s license before you can legally operate a vehicle. Without it you can still drive, but you risk trouble from law enforcement.
1

Go to the DMV

Open /gps and navigate to San Andreas DMV or head there directly. The DMV is marked on the map.
2

Start the exam

Interact with the DMV NPC and type /exam to begin the written driving exam.
3

Pass and receive your license

Answer the questions correctly. On passing, your driver’s license is issued automatically. View all your licenses with /licenses.

Step 2 - Visit the Dealership

The dealership is located in the city. Open /gps and navigate to Dealership to set a waypoint.
You must be level 3 to purchase a vehicle from the dealership.
1

Browse the inventory

Walk into the dealership and interact with the showroom to open the vehicle browser. Filter by class, type, manufacturer, or price.
2

Pick a vehicle and color

Select a vehicle you can afford, then choose your preferred primary and secondary paint colors.
3

Set a custom plate (optional)

Enter a custom plate number (up to 8 characters, letters and numbers only). Leave blank to get a random plate.
4

Confirm the purchase

The price is deducted from your cash on hand - make sure you have enough before visiting. Your vehicle spawns outside the dealership ready to drive.

Step 3 - Managing Your Vehicle

Once you own a vehicle, use /v or /vehicles to open the vehicle management menu at any time.
OptionDescription
SpawnSpawn your vehicle at its last saved location.
DespawnRemove your vehicle from the world without moving it.
LocateSet a waypoint to where your vehicle is currently parked.
TowRespawn your vehicle at its last saved parking spot.
InformationView mileage, insurance, colors, and purchase date.
Sell to DealershipSell the vehicle for 60% of its original price. Must be at the dealership.

Parking Your Vehicle

When you park for the night, use /park while sitting in the driver seat. This saves your current position so the vehicle spawns back at the same spot next time.
/park

Fuel

Vehicles consume fuel as you drive. Refuel at any petrol station - drive up to a pump and press E to interact. If you run out of fuel, the engine cuts out. Premium Account holders have a higher maximum fuel capacity (150 L vs 100 L).

Speed Limiter

Set a maximum speed for your vehicle to avoid accidentally speeding:
/sl [speed in KM/H]
/sl 0
Use /sl 0 to disable. Not available on boats, helicopters, or planes.
