The Fisherman is a unique legal job with no vehicle and no traditional /work route. You fish at designated spots along the Paleto Bay coast using a Fishing Rod and Fish Bait, then sell your catch at a 24/7 Store.

Requirements

Before you can fish you must have:
  • Fishing Rod - a one-time purchase, kept permanently
  • Fish Bait - consumed one per cast, needs restocking
Both can be purchased from the in-game shop.

Getting Started

Find the HQ

Head to the Fisherman HQ in Paleto Bay on the far north-west coast. Look for the elderly fisherman NPC.

Get hired

Walk up to the NPC and type /getjob. You must be within 5m.

Go to a fishing area

Walk to any of the marked fishing spots along the Paleto Bay shoreline.

Cast your line

Type /fish to start casting. A mini-game plays on your screen.

Sell your catch

Once your bag is full (or you’re done fishing), type /sellfish. Follow the GPS to the assigned 24/7 Store to deliver and get paid.

Fish Bag

You can carry a maximum of 5 fish at a time across all types. Once your bag is full, you must /sellfish before you can catch more.

Pay

Pay is based on the type and quantity of fish sold, boosted by your skill level.

Rarer fish have a higher base price per unit, so targeting specific species pays off at higher skill levels.
Premium account holders receive an additional bonus on their sell earnings.

Rules

  • You must be inside a designated fishing area on the Paleto Bay coast to use /fish.
  • One bait is consumed per cast regardless of whether you catch anything.
  • The sell mission assigns you a random 24/7 Store - follow the GPS blip.
